Blossom Box Games Communications
Below are two mock communications materials I drafted about my game company Blossom Box Games for a course at DePaul University.

My objective was to draft a mock press release for the launch of a video game I am writing for an audience of both video game journalists and regular reporters.
At first, I wrote what was essentially a script for a Nintendo Direct placement, but I rerouted to a more traditional approach. As the genre blending in the game is atypical in the gaming sphere — dating simulator and roguelite — I described how both work with the game separately before tying them together with a quote from the creative director. Because I was working with two audiences, I combined relatable, emotional elements with sparse video game jargon.
The final product is a piece of professional writing that tugs at the heartstrings. From this assignment, I learned to imbue my writing with human elements, like love in this case, to appeal to multiple audiences at once through emotion.

As I sprinkled them through the article, I worked humor and emotion into the lines to make the experience engaging and entertaining. Finally, I wrote a title that mimics a search that someone might type into a Google bar.
I practiced brevity with this experience. While I wanted to include every game I hold dear, I understood that my audience wasn’t on my website for a comprehensive guide, but a starting place
