Something Different
Illustration isn't my typical go-to. I'm a words woman. But I love playing around in Procreate on my iPad, and I whipped this neat book concept up for a class project. See more below. (And feel free to print out a coloring page!)
Design
My goal was to design a Little Golden Books-style cover to pitch a children’s book to a professor whose agency client is Organic Valley.
I utilized Procreate’s paint and cropping tools to deliver a calm and friendly book cover to attract young minds. Then, I took the project a step further and designed a back-of-the-book recipe page and some coloring pages to accompany my presentation. The process for the cover included tracing Organic Valley’s milk container to keep the imagery on-brand and expanding upon it to create a square image. Then, I added appropriate coloring and took the cow from the milk container to add a living element.
My design communicates Organic Valley’s values of nature and wholesomeness. The sprawling landscape, in conjunction with the cow, represent the brand’s commitment to real, unprocessed food. I learned about the kind of story an image can tell without words or even people, and my professor loved the idea.
